Scenes from an Imaginary Nightclub

Despite my recent lack of blogging diligence, Studio 12 continues to host the finest local musical talent every Wednesday night... now featuring the (soon to be) famous Studio $12 Tapas Dinner.

Meanwhile, down on the corner, the Church Street Summer Music-Fest continues this week starting Thursday night with Ken Korreis.  Friday night is Flamenco night (reservations required). Saturday night features a twin-bill of our good friends Carrie Cantor & Malcolm Marsden will be perfoming alternate sets with John Finnegan. The weekend is capped off with musical polymath Bob Cannon performing Sunday night.  See the side-bar for the full schedule....

Here are a few shots from last week courtesy of Micheal Reitman......
PS - Tapastry is closed tonight, (Tuesday, 8/9/11) for Senator Gill's event.

The music is wafting through the summer air as the Church Street Summer Music-Fest continues to ring out.  Through the generous support & friendship of local musicians, Tapastry Restaurant and Studio 12 have been staging shows, indoors & out all summer long with lots more to come (full schedule, sidebar right).

Also, due to popular demand, Studio 12 has unveiled a $12 three course Musicians & Friends Dinner Special every Wednesday night, available 7:30 - 10:30, upstairs only.

Fourth of July, Montclair, NJ

Jemal Williams, Billy Karcher & John Finnegan
Montclair's annual July 4 Family Picnic was held in Edgemont Park yesterday and what a beautiful day it was!  Music was provided by our good friends John Finnegan, Meg Beattie Patrick, Jemal Williams, Micheal Reitman, Jefferson Newman, Billy Karcher, Carl Croce & Davis Deivito.  Studio 12 (aka Church Street Catering) grilled the dogs....  Kudos to Alma Schneider for getting the ball rolling (as usual), Micheal Reitman for capturing the images (as usual) and to John Finnegan for schlepping the PA!

This week at Studio 12 & Tapastry Restaurant promises to be another musically filled celebration of Summer.  The week gets rolling with Wednesday night's Open Mic (this week's birthdays include Ringo Starr, Robbie Robertson & Bill Haley).

Thursday night Compas will fill the air with cool Latin Jazz....

Friday night marks the return engagement of Romeria Flamenca for two shows of Live Flamenco...

Saturday night Laura Birdsong will be joined outdoors on Church Street with good friends Stephen Vecchiotti  and Al Muller along with Billy Karcher, Gerry Griffin and perhaps an appearance by Bru Rossman….. Angel choir of Meg Beattie Patrick and Delaynie Rudner Cusick should be on hand as well.

Sunday night brings us Meg Beattie Patrick and Michael Williams back for another Sunday night songfest!

Studio 12 Levitates

After a three week run in the main dining room of Tapastry Restaurant, Studio 12 will return home to the clubby confines of our second floor hideaway this week just in time to celebrate James Cotton's 76th birthday.

Friday night Romeria Flamenca returns for two more beautifully athletic & passionate performances at 7:30 & 9:00 pm.

This weekend (& every weekend this summer), we'll be back outdoors on Church Street.  For the holiday weekend we'll be treated to the cool sounds of Meg Beattie Patrick (Sat eve) & John Finnegan (Sun eve).  If it is anything like this past weekend we'll probably have more than a few musical guests (maybe you) joining in on the fun!

Monday, July 4, Church Street Catering takes our show on the road to Edgemont Park where we will be providing the food for Montclair's Independance Day town picnic.

Monday night the festivities on Church Street wrap up with firecracker Carrie Cantor performing under the stars!

Tryin' to Keep Up on Midsummer's Eve

Added responsibilities bobbing & weaving at Tapastry have really cut into my blogtime......

This week's Studio 12 might be the last for a while on the first floor or the first for a while back on the second floor.

Also, Romeria Flamenca is back this Friday night at Tapastry.......

Studio 12 Hits the Ground...

...Floor, that is.  Returning to the days of yore, Studio 12 has moved downstairs to Tapastry's main dining room.  Gone is the $10 buffet.... in its place we are offering a $10 Tapas special.  Last week we offered Tortilla Espanola, Pollo Picante con Arroz and Pera al Vino.  This week, who knows what Chef Gonzalo will cook up?

Also, this Friday we will feature live performances by Romeria Flamenca.  Go to Tapastry Restaurant for the 411 and reservations!

PS... Tapastry has a new Facebook page . With a few more "Likes" we get our Facewings

¡Amigos Bienvenidos!

What a crazy two weeks!  Since we shotgun opened Tapastry Restaurant in 48 hours on May 26, Gonzalo has done everything but play his Galician Bagpipes (who knew there were Celts in Spain?).
